Hudson, Massachusetts Wins Best Main Street in America Contest

prevailing over more than 200 entrants, our home of hudson, massachusetts has been crowned the winner of the 2021 america’s main streets contest. our community is thrilled to take home the win along with the $25,000 prize, which the town plans to use to promote culture and arts throughout hudson’s historic downtown area.

the sixth annual america’s main street contest kicked off in september, hosted by independent we stand, a national small business organization. hudson has experienced a significant revitalization in recent years, transforming into a hotspot for restaurants, breweries, shops, & more. just a dozen years ago, the downtown was filled with vacant businesses, a striking contrast from the lively streets that now make up the downtown area.

with more than 1 million votes cast nationwide, we are honored that the town we call home for one of our scoop shops is being recognized for their charming downtown. the $25,000 will go towards expanding the cultural footprint of downtown hudson and funding the growth of the community. some of the projects the town plans to embark on using the prize money is providing accounting and financial support for businesses impacted by covid-19, continuing in their efforts to purchase and renovate a vacant riverfront armory into an arts and performance center, and expanding their culture and arts programs.

here at new city microcreamery, we are thrilled to be a part of downtown hudson and are excited to see the community continue to expand and grow. as the contest progressed, we saw our community and fellow downtown businesses rally together to gain votes. the sense of community and pride here in downtown hudson is one of the reasons we love calling main street home for our hudson ice cream shop, and we are beyond excited to see the opportunities that this win will bring the town.
